Update on Journal list and Full Text @ RGU problems

On the 22nd July we reported problems with the journals list and the Full Text @ RGU service which helps you track down articles. The problem was that

The journals list was not showing the electronic or print holidings for a large number of the journals which RGU provided access to.

The Full Text @ RGU service was likewise showing no availability for articles which should be accessible.

We can report that the library has been adding all missing journal information back to the system and that this work is nearly completed.

We do apologise for the problems this has caused and will report once all holdings have been restored.

In the meantime if you have any queries about tracking down journals or articles please email library@rgu.ac.uk.

Changes to the journals list and article linking next week

Next week the library will be making changes to two of our services.

Updated Journals List

The first change is is an updated version of the journals list. You will still access it in the same places but after doing your search for a journal title you will be taken to a new results screen. This new look results page will tell you if we have the journal online or in print, what years we cover, and for online journals give links to them:

Find it @ RGU now to be Full Text @ RGU

The second service to be updated is Find it @ RGU which helps you access journal articles from the databases, the Aspire@RGU readings lists and the library catalogue; this will now be called Full Text @ RGU.

The links in the catalogue and Aspire@RGU will not change but within the databases the logo to look out for will be:

Using these links will take you to a new look results screen which will tell you if we have the article online and if so give access it. You’ll also be shown if we have the journal in print so you can check out what years are available.

Look out for further information and these services appearing next week and if you have any questions or comments please get in touch with us at library@rgu.ac.uk.
