Christmas Dinner & the TLC Food-bank

TLC Xmas 

Like us, the volunteers at the TLC food-bank are busy planning for Christmas too. They are hoping to support more than 20 families by providing the food they will need for their Christmas Dinner.  If you or a group of friends or colleagues would like to help you can sponsor a family by donating the food from the special ‘Christmas dinner shopping list’.

The food-bank supports families of different sizes, from 1 up to 7 members so we can match you or your group with a family of a suitable size. If you would like to bring your donated food to the Riverside East Reception before noon on 19 December the Cultural Animateur and volunteers will be on hand to receive your donation. Alternatively we can arrange for your donation to be collected from another building on campus. The Food-bank volunteers will ensure your donation is shared with your family in time for Christmas.

Thanks to your generous support earlier this year, the food-bank received nearly a quarter of a ton of donated food, in recognition of Sarah Schmid’s charitable swim in Loch Lomond. This has since been distributed through the Inchgarth Community Centre to local people experiencing food poverty. In response to the growing number of families travelling to Garthdee to use the food-bank TLC have, this week, opened a new distribution point, together with storage facilities, at Citrus House in Torry.

Access problems for 6th edition Management book by Boddy

We apologise that we are currently experiencing problems with access to the Management ebook, 6th edition, by David Boddy.  We are investigating purchase of further credits and/or copies from other suppliers.  Lecturers have advised that you use the 5th, 4th or 3rd editions of this ebook or the Essentials of Management ebook by this author (available from both MyiLibrary and DawsonEra) meanwhile, until we are able to source further access to the 6th edition of the Management ebook by Boddy.

If you are trying to access this title from the Aspire list BS1203 Management Concepts, please click on the title and if you experience difficulty in accessing this version of the title, click on “Find other formats/editions”.  This will take you to the library catalogue where you will be able to access other editions of this title and the alternative title by this author.

Library classes this week

For the rest of this week the following programme of library classes will be running. If you would like to attend a session follow the links to go to the booking form and sign up. Each class will last for one hour and take place in 337 in the Georgina Scott Sutherland Learning Centre. To see the full programme of classes over the next semester follow this link.

Have a question about finding information or referencing? Drop in and see us in IT Lab 337.

As you know the library is running a programme of classes throughout the semester in IT Lab 337 in the Georgina Scott Sutherland Learning Centre and these classes are running Monday to Friday in either the morning or the afternoon.

But sometimes you have a question not covered by these classes, need a quick answer, or would like to speak to someone one to one.

Therefore when the classes are not being run IT Lab 337 is open for everyone to use / drop in to and a member of library staff will be available to answer any questions you have about searching for information.

This means that if the classes are running 09.00-13.00 then the drop-in is running later that day at 13.00-17.00 and if the classes are running 13.00-17.00 then the drop-in is running earlier that day at 09.00-13.00.

Next week the drop in sessions are:

  • Monday 8th December 09.00-13.00
  • Tuesday 9th December 13.00-17.00
  • Wednesday 10th December 09.00-13.00
  • Thursday 11th December 13.00-17.00
  • Friday 12th December 09.00-13.00
