OpenAIR@RGU – monthly update (no.35 – November 2019)

Welcome to the thirty-fifth monthly update on OpenAIR@RGU – RGU’s open access institutional repository. Please direct any queries to the team at

Service Update

We migrated our legacy data into Worktribe over the summer, but we are still working to fix lots of inaccuracies and errors that have appeared in our records during the migration. If you spot any problems when using Worktribe or OpenAIR, please let us know and we’ll fix them as quickly as possible.

We have started to run training sessions for researchers on how to use the Outputs module in Worktribe. This training covers searching for existing outputs as well as adding new ones. Invitations are being sent directly to researchers according to lists that have been provided by research leads in each School. If you think you should have received an invite and have not heard anything by the end of January, please get in touch with the Publications Team. Please note: you will need to have attended a “Getting Started with Worktribe” basic training session first, in order to be given access to the system. You can find out more about the “Getting Started” sessions by contacting Jane Williams.

The repository currently contains 3,666 links between Schools and outputs (some records are linked to multiple Schools and therefore included in this figure more than once). Some examples of recent additions to the repository include the following outputs:

  • = ROBERTS, R. and FLIN, R. 2019. The psychological factors that influence successful technology adoption in the oil and gas industry. Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting [online], 63(1): proceedings of the 63rd Human Factors and Ergonomics Society annual meeting, 28 October – 1 November 2019, Seattle, Washington, pages 1183-1187. Available from:
  • = BELAKEHAL, A., TABET AOUL, K., BENNADJI, A. and FARHI, A. 2019. The Relationships Between Users and Daylighting Design in the 20th Century Architectural Practice. Presented at the 7th Zero energy mass custom home international conference 2019 (ZEMCH 2019), 26-28 November 2019, Seoul, Korea.

Each School currently has the following number of records on OpenAIR:

24/7 Library Opening – Coming Soon

24 hour library opening begins on Monday 25th November and will continue until 8.00pm on Friday 20th December.

Security staff will be on duty overnight and the self-service kiosks and returns machine will be available as usual. If you have any questions during these times, please email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

From 10.00pm, a complimentary drink station will be available near the SIWB reception area. Microwaves and a kettle will also be available in the Refectory.

Vending machines are available on Level 2a (to the left when exiting the lift).

The usual rules about eating and drinking in the library still apply so we would ask that you don’t bring coffee, tea or snacks into the study areas. Bottled water only please! Free reusable RGU Library water bottles are available from reception.

Please stay safe and make travel plans accordingly.  For bus timetables please see –

We hope you find these extra opening hours useful and look forward to hearing your feedback.

Problems accessing some eBooks

We are sorry to report that there are currently problems accessing some of our eBooks.

The eBooks that can not be accessed are from Myilibrary or Ebook Central and you can see if the title you are interested in is from one of these suppliers by looking at the “View Online” information after locating the book on LibrarySearch e.g.

The company is working to fix the problem and we will update once we know more.

We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.
