Christmas Dinner & the TLC Food-bank

TLC Xmas

Like us, the volunteers at the TLC food-bank are busy planning for Christmas too. They are hoping to support more than 20 families by providing the food they will need for their Christmas Dinner.  If you or a group of friends or colleagues would like to help you can sponsor a family by donating the food from the special ‘Christmas dinner shopping list’.

The food-bank supports families of different sizes, from 1 up to 7 members so we can match you or your group with a family of a suitable size. If you would like to bring your donated food to the Riverside East Reception before noon on 19 December the Cultural Animateur and volunteers will be on hand to receive your donation. Alternatively we can arrange for your donation to be collected from another building on campus. The Food-bank volunteers will ensure your donation is shared with your family in time for Christmas.

Thanks to your generous support earlier this year, the food-bank received nearly a quarter of a ton of donated food, in recognition of Sarah Schmid’s charitable swim in Loch Lomond. This has since been distributed through the Inchgarth Community Centre to local people experiencing food poverty. In response to the growing number of families travelling to Garthdee to use the food-bank TLC have, this week, opened a new distribution point, together with storage facilities, at Citrus House in Torry.

If you would like to sponsor a family please contact Lorna Adam or to find out more about this appeal or information about the services of the food-bank please contact Natalie Kerr, the Cultural Animateur-in-Residence.
